The Resource Centre tab may be of particular interest. The dropdown menu on that tab includes various articles and other materials I have prepared on the CAPL Operating Procedure, the CAPL Farmout & Royalty Procedure, the CAPL Property Transfer Procedure, the PJVA-CAPL Pad Site Sharing Agreement and Leadership and Development. The “Other” Resource Centre tab also includes other helpful links, including a link to the precedents created by the CAPLA Contracts Committee.

By way of introduction, highlights of my experience include:

• Specialized knowledge as draftsman of the CAPL Operating Procedure (1990, 2007, 2015), the CAPL Farmout & Royalty Procedure (1997 and 2015) and the CAPL Property Transfer Procedure (2000 and 2017) under which industry spends billions of dollars each year and few issues ever escalate into legal proceedings; 

• Hands-on experience with the negotiation of a wide range of complex agreements for conventional, unconventional and frontier projects and some experience with the AIPN JOA;

• Significant experience with regulatory advocacy projects in diverse jurisdictions; and

• Exposure to a broad range of real-world operational issues over my career.

As elaborated on in the Services tab, my practice builds on my experience to help clients optimize commercial outcomes, mitigate risk, resolve problems and deliver internal training. It is a specialized practice that is designed primarily to supplement a client’s internal resources to address a project specific need, rather than more typical day-to-day land activities.
